Ezekiel 28 and the Spirit of Tyre: Pride, Wealth, Rock Music, and the Fall of Satan

Ezekiel 28 and the Spirit of Tyre: Pride, Wealth, Rock Music, and the Fall of Satan

Ezekiel 28 exposes the pride and corruption behind the kingdom of Tyre while revealing the fall of Satan himself. This powerful chapter warns believers about the dangers of pride, worldly influence, and spiritual deception that still dominate culture today—including through music, fame, and entertainment.

Ezekiel 28 commentary

This evening if you have your Bibles look with me to Ezekiel chapter 28. Ezekiel chapter 28 is a very interesting chapter. The Lord spends a lot of time with Ezekiel looking at the city of Tyre and also at sister city Sidon.

And once again just to bring it to mind, Lebanon is right here Tyre and Sidon are right real near the border of Israel and Lebanon, the southwestern border. Tyre is on the ocean right there. God is speaking to Tyre and it’s interesting as you look at history, Satan has had cities that have been strongholds for him.

And if you look at the various cities throughout history, during the various kingdoms as you study those in Daniel and also in the other prophets, especially in Daniel where he gives the progression of the kingdoms, you see that Satan is always at the center of these kingdoms and as you look at, as they progress the Babylonian kingdom was occultic in nature and they had their magicians and they called them the Chaldeans and they were the magicians and those that would speak about the future and interpret dreams, although they refused to really do it because they were wrong all the time. But the problem is it was Satan that was giving them their power. Then if you go from Babylon next you go to the Medo-Persians and again they didn’t worship, they had false gods that they worshipped and then you went to the Grecian empire and at the center of the Grecian empire is the worship of the, really they were super humans, their gods and it was really, again going back all the way to the Tower of Babel and Nimrod where man was to be exalted to God and they worshipped them and then you have the Roman Empire where really you begin to actually have men worshipped as God where the emperors declared themselves to be God and we see that as you look at towards some of the ends of the Roman Empire where some of them became very anti-Christian and they would say you can worship your God but you have to declare that I’m God first.

Well, during this whole time there were other strongholds and after the Roman Empire collapsed, if you read in the Book of Revelation you read that Satan has his stronghold in the city of Smyrna and that is located in the region of Turkey and he had really, his place of power was there and one of the other places of power that we see in Scripture was the city of Tyre that Ezekiel talks of and was at the time of Ezekiel. One of the things that you’ll often see as you go and look at these various places that Satan has a real stronghold, at that particular time in world history they will be centers of not only religious, strong anti-God religious activity but they’ll also be the stronghold of economic activity. That was the case with Tyre.

It was a strong center of false worship. The city of Tyre had actually been founded by Sidon and Sidon is just a little bit north of Tyre and Sidon was also the home of Jezebel who became the wife of Ahab and introduced just horrendous worship of Baal and Astaroth and other gods and goddesses into Israel which resulted in the condemnation of Ezekiel that was brought upon the nation. So we see that these places are strongholds of Satan and God strikes out against them.

Now one of the things that’s interesting is we talked last time about Tyre. If you look at here, Israel is here and right about where the arrow is pointing in Israel is about where Jerusalem is in Israel. Towards the center it’s a little bit west of the Jordan River up in the mountains and it’s south of Tyre and Tyre viewed itself as a competitor of Israel when it came as we said last time to the economic part of it because that’s one of the reasons they were thrilled when Israel was falling under the Babylonian attacks.

Well it wasn’t only that, there were spiritual things going on as well. Mount Zion, the Temple Mount, the city of Jerusalem are the places of the Lord. Tyre was a place which was Satan’s stronghold at this time in history and so Satan really inspired the king of Tyre to come against God.

This evening we’re going to begin by looking at the first portion of chapter 28 where it specifically talks about the king of Tyre and depending on how time goes we may get into verses 11 through 19 as well which speak of the force that is really behind the king of Tyre. One of the things that you’re seeing in our day and the day in which we live is a lot of occultic and satanic activity and as the world grows darker you see that people become more enamored with worshiping that which is false. We were just listening to a man tonight before we came who has done a lot of study and push for a one world government and in the last days, it talks about in the last days there will be a move towards worshiping Satan and away from believing in God and there’s a lot of organizations throughout the world that have the same foundation of satanic worship at their core that are really coming together and pushing towards this.

This type of spirit was in Tyre and let’s take a look at what it says about the king of Tyre.

Ezekiel 28:1-2

The word of the Lord came again unto me, saying, Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord God;

Because thine heart is lifted up,
and thou hast said, I am a God,
I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas;
yet thou art a man, and not God,

though thou set thine heart as the heart of God:

I just want to pause here.

This same spirit is a spirit that’s going to be in the heart of the man who’s going to be referred to as the Antichrist in the last days. Throughout history, there have been various men that have possessed this same spirit and I really believe Satan has empowered them and given them power over men like Nimrod had power over men. People were enamored with Nimrod.

People were feared and enamored with other various leaders and this man here was a man who desired power, he desired riches and he desired to be worshipped because he declared I am a God and I will sit in the throne of God even though he was a man. Well that spirit was given to him by Satan. Antichrist Epiphanes was another man that was a man who had the same spirit as the Antichrist will have and he came out of the Greek Roman Empire when we were studying that and we saw that he was one of the leaders of one of the four kingdoms that were separated when Alexander died and it was given over to his generals and he took over one of those kingdoms and he went to Jerusalem and did the very same said the very same things this man said except he said it on Mount Zion in the temple of God.

This is why there was such a disdain and hatred at this time from Tyre towards Jerusalem because the man leading it really was possessed by Satan in a real sense and inspired by him and had believed the fact that he could be God. Now I want you to understand our world today is being taught this same thing. The whole teaching of much of modern psychology and things that kids are being taught both in college and in public schools is the fact that you can become your own God.

You can determine your own destiny. You can become a self-actualized person that is you can become one who can determine what is right or wrong and there will be no authority higher than you and at the foundation of that is really what is situational ethics that you can determine what the situation demands for what is right and wrong. There are no absolutes, relativism and all these other things flow out of this but at the heart of it is Satan and he’s coming against the authority, the power and the absolutes of God.

There is no God but the true and the living God yet this man declared himself to be God. Verse 3,

Ezekiel 28:3-4

behold, thou art wiser than Daniel;
there is no secret that they can hide from thee:

with thy wisdom and with thine understanding thou hast gotten thee riches,
and hast gotten gold and silver into thy treasures:

Now I want you to understand the same thing is happening today in the world today.

We look at many men that are very very wealthy and some of them you wonder how did they become so wealthy. Some of them came from nothing and attained great wealth and you look into what their belief system is and it’s much like this person. I view myself as wiser than anyone else and I will look to Satan to give me wisdom and strength.

I shared with you before there is a man by the name of Joe Schemel who wrote, did a video and the title of the video is I sold my soul for rock and roll and what he did is he did a study of the belief systems of many of the modern day musicians specifically those involved in the rock and roll industry and many of them had made pacts with the demonic so that they could have fame and fortune and wealth. That is what this man is doing. Ezekiel is saying you view yourself as wiser than Daniel.

Could he be wiser than Daniel? No because God gave Daniel wisdom of the future events that this man did not have. But this man viewed himself as wiser than Daniel just as Lucifer views himself as equal or greater than God. He used his wisdom and understanding for personal gain of riches and power.

Ezekiel 28:5-6

by thy great wisdom and by thy traffick hast thou increased thy riches,
and thine heart is lifted up because of thy riches:

therefore thus saith the Lord God;

Now why don’t you just look at that word there and it is very interesting it says and by thy great wisdom and by thy traffic. Now what do you think it means traffic? You have been hearing trafficking a lot in our culture.

Well guess what? It wasn’t any different during the time of Tyre. They bought and sold people and they gained wealth by buying and selling people. By buying and selling sex slaves.

By buying and selling people into slavery. Human trafficking. Trafficking in other things like substances as we know today there is drug trafficking.

There was the same types of things going on during the time of Sidon and Tyre. And men got extremely wealthy by doing it because other men were willing to pay to have their lusts and desires satisfied and he was willing to take their money and really turn them into his slaves as they looked to him to deliver what they wanted him to deliver and it wasn’t that which was righteous.

Ezekiel 28:5-7

by thy great wisdom and by thy traffick hast thou increased thy riches,
and thine heart is lifted up because of thy riches:

therefore thus saith the Lord God;
Because thou hast set thine heart as the heart of God;

behold, therefore I will bring strangers upon thee, the terrible of the nations:
and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of thy wisdom,
and they shall defile thy brightness.

He felt that he was not going to ever be attacked or destroyed because of his great wisdom, his great, what he had established. Remember I said at this time in history Tyre was the center of the economic world and you can see if you go over here the Mediterranean would be over here and you’d have all the countries over there you’d have Rome and Greece, France all the way over to Spain, the Northern Africa and Tyre really became the center of the economy of all of these nations. Tyre as you see people from Asia if they were going to come in, as they would come from Asia they would come this way and down through Tyre and Israel and so it became a center of trade.

People from Europe would do the same thing if they go to Africa, people from Africa would come up and go through that area as well. So Tyre like Israel was the center of all the trade routes and he became very wealthy by trading in this and he felt no one would ever come against him because of the trade. The only problem is he came against God and he felt that God could not judge him because of his power, his wisdom, his beauty and all that he possessed but God says your judgment will come and the judgment is going to come by the swords of those and we know that the first wave of judgment came from the Babylonians and then about 200 years later the final wave against Tyre came from the Greeks under Alexander the Great.

Ezekiel 28:8-9

They shall bring thee down to the pit,
and thou shalt die the deaths of them that are slain in the midst of the seas.

Are you going to say you’re God as you’re being slain? It’s pretty hard to say you’re God when you can’t even defend yourself and when your enemies can destroy you and your city and all that you possess.

Yet this is how self deluded he was. We’re going to see in just a moment the self delusion came from a higher power. Now he goes on and he says:

Ezekiel 28:9-10

Wilt thou yet say before him that slayeth thee, I am God?

but thou shalt be a man, and no God, in the hand of him that slayeth thee.

10

Thou shalt die the deaths of the uncircumcised by the hand of strangers:
for I have spoken it, saith the Lord God.

And that’s exactly what happened. Remember we said under Babylon the land city of Tyre was destroyed and then under Alexander the Great the island city of Tyre was destroyed and this kingdom that thought they were undestructable suddenly stood in judgment of God.

Well God goes into greater detail in this man’s character but as we look at the detail he goes into we see that God’s giving us revelation not only to this king’s character but to the force of the power that is behind the king. And we’re going to see that this is not only a demonic force but it’s Satan himself. And God gives us explanations of Satan that we only see here and in Isaiah.

They’re the only two places in scripture where we really see the depth of explanation of who Satan was, what God created him to be, what happened to Satan, how come he is such an enemy of God today and what will be Satan’s final outcome. We have other pictures of that but not as in great detail as we do in this particular passage of Ezekiel. You’ll find those in the book of Revelation where it talks about the last days when Satan and those that he has inspired to do his evil on the world and to lead the world in rebellion against God, the Antichrist and the false prophet and they all shall ultimately be cast into the lake of fire and be judged.

Well let’s take a look at this force of Satan behind this man. He says, Now, why would God lament over the king of Tyre and why would God lament over Satan? We’re going to see what God created Satan for and what he desired that Satan would be and what Satan became because of his sin. God hates sin but he also hates what it does to those that are of his creation.

He hates what sin does to man. That’s why he sent his son Jesus Christ to die on the cross to take away the sins of the world. He hates the fact of what man’s sinful choices have done to this world and his creation and that’s why one day he’s going to recreate it in all of its beauty and glory and allow those that have trusted in his redemptive work at Calvary to rule and reign with him again.

Unfortunately, Satan and the fallen angels do not get a second chance. They had their opportunity. They saw God in all of his glory.

They saw God in the glory that no man on this earth has seen God in and yet they willfully chose to rebel against him. Let’s take a look at this force of Satan that is behind the king of Tyre. Well, we know from the first here that it says that thou was full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.

11 Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, 12 Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord God;

Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.

13

Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God;…

Well, we know the king of Tyre wasn’t in Eden because Eden came a couple thousand years before Tyre existed and before this king was even born. So who could it have been? Well, we know that the people in Eden were Adam and Eve and Satan and so he is speaking of the one who was in Eden and he says you were in Eden.

Now what did Satan see when he was in Eden? He saw God’s perfect creation. He saw man and woman before their fall in sin and rebellion and believing his lies and he had seen the beauty of it. So that’s what he saw in Eden.

…every precious stone was thy covering,
the sardius, topaz, and the diamond,
the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper,
the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold:
the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes
was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.

And so you can’t even imagine what Satan looked like when he was created, his beauty. He’s talking about all the most precious beautiful stones in the world and that’s what he was covered with. That’s to try and give us from our human understanding a picture of his beauty.

Not only that, it talks about his pipes. What is his pipes? I believe his pipes is talking about his voice and we see that Satan was created to lead the other angels before the throne of God in the worship of God. And music was one of the things he was created for.

And that’s why when Satan corrupts man, often times he will use wicked take music and turn it instead of something that inspires man to worship God, turn it into that which causes man to turn away from God. If you look at much of rock and roll and you can even look at country western where the beat isn’t as bad but the words are often times just as bad and the message is just as bad. They come against the things of God.

They come against marriage. They come against family. They come against holiness.

They come against righteousness. They come against purity. They promote things like drug use.

They promote things like incest and divorce and incestuous relationships. And it’s all done through music. And people are greatly influenced by music.

If you ever watch a video of a rock concert, pretty soon you see all the people waving like this and what they’re doing is they’re really giving themselves over to the music. And they’re greatly being influenced by the music. Well who’s behind the music? Satan.

He was created to be a musical being but to be a musical being that would worship God and lead the angels of God in worship before his throne. And the Lord says, and I believe what it means here, is the pipe was prepared in thee in the day. Thy pipes was prepared in thee that thou was created.

Verse 14

14

Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so:
thou wast upon the holy mountain of God;
thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.

Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth.

Now the anointed cherub that covereth would be an archangel. There are two archangels spoken of in the Bible.

Michael is spoken of as an archangel. And Michael is the archangel whose one of his responsibilities is to look over the nation of Israel as we see that Daniel revealed that to us when we look at the book of Daniel. The other archangel was Lucifer.

Now when Lucifer fell he deceived a third of the angels in heaven and convinced them to rebel against God with him. Two thirds remained in heaven and worshiped the Lord. Michael is the archangel over two thirds.

Satan is the archangel, the fallen archangel who leads a third. Satan believes he will defeat Michael. He will defeat the good angels and he will ultimately defeat God.

But the Bible tells us he is deluded. And his delusion shall ultimately lead to his eternal judgment. Now let’s go on and read what else it says with him.

Ezekiel 28:15-18

15

Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created,
till iniquity was found in thee.

By the multitude of thy merchandise
they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned:
therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God:
and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub,
from the midst of the stones of fire.

17

Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty,
thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness:
I will cast thee to the ground,
I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.

18

Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities,
by the iniquity of thy traffick;
therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee,
it shall devour thee,
and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth
in the sight of all them that behold thee.

So he was created as a perfect being, but God gave him a choice too. And we see with the angels from what scripture has revealed to us, the angels all also had a choice after Satan sinned.

Satan had a choice. Am I going to be loyal to God? Am I going to do what I was created to do? Or am I going to rebel against my creator? He chose to rebel against his creator. He said I will be like the most high.

We’ll see that in a moment. But the thing is, the other angels, they had a choice too. They could either follow the lies of Satan in rebellion against God or they could continue to worship God.

But what’s different about the angels and the fallen angels and those angels who remain loyal to the Lord, once they made their decision there was no redemption for those that chose wrong. Their decision was an eternal decision. It was locked in at that time and they would never be able to depart from that decision.

Those that had fallen would be judged. Remember when Jesus came to the Gerasenes on the east side of the Sea of Galilee and he came and he was going to cast out the demons and the demons spoke to him and they said, why are you here? Are you going to cast us away before our time? They knew that they were not to be judged because certain angels that during the time of Noah were judged and put into change until the last day of judgment because their wickedness was so wicked, God judged them for that. But these had not experienced that and they asked Jesus, are you going to judge us before our time? Before the end of time? Before our final time when we should be judged? They know they’re going to be judged.

They knew who Jesus was even though he was in the form of a man. They knew exactly who he was and then they asked him, instead of casting us into eternal judgment at this time, cast us into that group of swine over there. Now it’s interesting they asked to be cast into swine because pigs are viewed as unclean by the Jews and these were pigs, this herd of pigs was on the east side of the Sea of Galilee which was the side of the Sea of Galilee where the ten cities were that were actually Greek inspired.

They weren’t Jewish cities, they were Gentile cities, even though there may have been some Jews living there. But the majority of them had Gentiles living there. Well, he cast them into the swine, and immediately the swine ran into the lake, the Sea of Galilee, and were drowned.

Why did they ask to be cast into the swine? Because they’d rather be cast into the swine than be cast into eternal judgment because they still wanted to have opportunity to do more evil. Jesus allowed that to happen, but it’s interesting here, we see that their inspiration was Satan. And he said in verse 16, By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence.

Thou hast sinned, therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God, and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. Now, the midst of the stones of fire is in reference to really before the throne of God where you would see the angels, the angelic beings, and the fire that is before the Lord. He’s going to cast them out of that.

Today, Satan still has access to heaven, but we know that during the great tribulation where he will be cast down to earth, and then he will know that his time is short, and he’s going to go about seeking to destroy. But Jesus gave the full character of Satan more than once to his disciples. He said, he’s a murderer from the beginning.

Why? Well, from the beginning, there was no death. Through Satan’s prideful sin, death entered the universe. And he was the one who brought it.

It was his sin that brought death. He brought death, ultimate death, in the sense of separation from God eternally, for the angels that followed him. He brought death to Adam and Eve, and through Adam and Eve’s sin brought death to the earth and the rest of God’s creation.

So he’s a murderer from the beginning. He’s a liar. He’s a liar.

He lied to Adam and Eve. He lied to the angels that fell with him. He lies to men today.

He lies to those kids that began their rock and roll bands and made these packs with Satan. Just give me power, give me money. And he says, I’ll do this and you’ll be just wonderful.

But they don’t see that along with it comes death. And not only physical death in this life, and a death of oftentimes relationships and drugs and alcohol and a lot of other things that comes to these people’s lives, but ultimately spiritual death and separation from God. So he’s a murderer from the beginning.

He’s a liar. And he’s also a thief. He’s a thief because he takes that from other people.

What do we look at about the King of Tyre? King of Tyre gained from trafficking. He gained from obtaining wealth from other people. He took that which really wasn’t to be his and made it his, really by lying and stealing.

The same thing that Satan does. And so Satan is not only a murderer, a liar, but he’s also a thief. And that’s what Jesus called him.

And he called him out on it. And he says, Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty. He saw how beautiful he was, how God had created him beautiful, and somehow he was so self-deluded he thought the beauty had come from him, not from God.

Thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness.

He’d been given this great wisdom, but all they had to do to maintain that wisdom was look to the Lord, and the Lord would have given him proper wisdom, but instead it was corrupted as he looked at his own beauty and somehow in his mind perceived that that beauty had some come from him. That would be like a human, like a woman or a man, a man who’s very handsome and a woman who’s very beautiful, and they look and say, This beauty came from me.

Well, guess what? Number one, it didn’t come from you. It ultimately came from the genes that make you up, that were given and formed you from your mother and your father. It didn’t come from you.

And ultimately it came from God, because God’s the one that created all things. God’s the one that created the ability of procreation, and he’s the one that gave you the parents, that gave you the looks that you have. And so for any man or woman to say, Well, I’m so handsome because I am so handsome.

No, you’re not. Or I’m so beautiful, look at me, I’m so beautiful. And there are people in the world that are like that.

They’re like that. They think, look at me. And the sad thing is, people that possess that attitude, they eventually grow old and get wrinkled as well.

One of the things I like to do is, there’s a little app that comes up once in a while on my phone, and it says, then and now, then and now. And it shows movie stars, then and now. And it shows them when they’re young and they’re beautiful.

And then it shows them now, and they’re not so beautiful. And some of them have tried to maintain their beauty with plastic surgery, and it only makes it worse. And some of them look really bad.

And the thing is, like we read on Sunday in Proverbs 31, beauty is fleeting, but the love of God is eternal. And so Satan looked at himself and said, well, look how beautiful I am. I must have created myself.

And thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffic. Therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, and it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee. Now, this is an interesting thing.

Not only was the king of Tyre judged before all the other kings around him that were going, wow, look at him. Look at all the riches. Look at all the power.

Look at who he is. Look at how he controls all the countries of the Mediterranean. And then he was brought down in one day.

And they were all sitting there going, wow, what happened? Satan is going to be brought down in one day, in an hour. And the Bible tells us that there are going to be those who are so influenced by him and so believed in him that are going to go, that’s who we believed? That’s what we believed? As Satan is judged by God and brought really to his final judgment.

Verse 19, And they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee.

19

All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee:
thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more.

Thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more. In other words, there’s going to come a day where your influence isn’t going to be upon the world anymore. And we know when that day is ultimately going to come.

The beginning of it comes at the end of the tribulation. It says Satan at the end of the tribulation will be bound for a thousand years. He will not be able to influence men.

He will not be able to lie, steal, and murder for a thousand years. Because the Lord Jesus Christ is going to come and establish his kingdom upon the earth at the end of the great tribulation for a thousand years. During that thousand year reign, however, the Scriptures tell us that there are going to come men and women that will come into the millennial kingdom that will come in earthly bodies.

There won’t be glorified bodies, resurrected bodies. You and I as believers in Christ will come back with Jesus and we will rule and reign the earth with him. And we will come back in glorified bodies.

When you come back in glorified bodies, guess what? One thing you can’t do is have children. You’re done raising children. You’re done having children.

People on the earth, though, that come into the millennial kingdom and have physical bodies can still have children. There will be people born during the millennial kingdom. Those people will still have choices to make.

They will have to choose whether I’m going to rebel against God or I’m going to believe God. I’m going to believe in Jesus and what he did and believe that he died for my sins, just like he died for everybody that was raptured to heaven with him, or I don’t believe. But it says that the rebellion will be a suppressed rebellion during that time.

There will still be those that will have a rebellion in their hearts, but the Lord tells us that if you openly rebel during that time, you’ll be judged and it says that if you live only a hundred years, it shows that there’s a judgment of God on you for the rebellion that’s in your heart. Now, at the end of the millennial kingdom, what’s going to happen is Satan’s going to be loosed for a season. And people say, well, why did God do that? Why wouldn’t God just judge him immediately after the great tribulation? Why does he let him loose? Because there’s all these people that have to make a choice.

And the choice is still going to be between the liar, the murderer, and the thief who wants to present himself as God or the true and the living God. And Satan will be able to go forth and attempt to deceive those that have not given their lives to the Lord and come into the kingdom of God as his bride that was raptured, but those that are the children of those that have been born and have not given their heart to the Lord yet. And they’ll have to make a choice.

And that’s what Satan’s come for. Number one, people will see, because right now in your world, how many times have you heard the comedians go, oh, Satan made me do it. Whenever something bad is done and they’re telling a joke.

There used to be a guy called Flip Wilson. That was one of his favorite lines. He’d tell these stories and jokes where something awful would happen.

And then he’d go, well, the devil made me do it. The devil made me do it. No, Satan didn’t make you do it.

He may have laid out the temptation before you, but you made the choice. And that’s what’s going to be coming for these people born during the tribulation. They will have to make choices.

And ultimately, Satan will come out and lay temptation before them one last time. They have to make choices, and then God is going to judge Satan. And when he judges Satan, you’re going to have the nations of the world, it says, are going to exist during the millennial kingdom.

They’re going to be nations because it says they’ll all come up to worship Jesus at Mount Zion. It says that in Revelation. And so the thing is, these nations are going to look when God judges him in a moment for eternity, and they’re going to go, really? We actually believed him? And they’re going to stand astonished.

They’re going to stand amazed. And he says, ultimately, God pronounces this judgment, thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be anymore. Never again after that will Satan be able to be a liar, deceiver, and murderer again, because he’s going to be judged and cast into the lake of fire.

This gives us one of the clearest pictures of who Satan thinks he is. Of what happened, how he fell, what he was before the fall, what he was after the fall, and what his ultimate destiny is going to be. And it also shows how he aligns himself with powerful men that want power at any expense and believe the liar, the thief, and the murderer instead of the one who offers the truth and love.

Let’s just close in prayer. Lord, I pray that you just help us to understand these truths that we’ve looked at tonight. Help us to see that Satan is still active in the world today.

There are men that believe his deceiving lies. And we see them all over the world. There are world leaders who would rather worship power and money and give their souls to Satan than seek to rule in righteousness and truth and give their hearts to you.

Lord, now I pray that you just be with us and help us to focus on you and help us to share with others the hope we have in Jesus. This we ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.
