How to Know Christ – The Romans Road to Salvation
God loves you and wants a relationship with you. But before we can fully understand that good news, we must first understand why we need it. The Romans Road is a step-by-step path through Scripture that shows us our need for salvation—and how to receive it.
1. We all need salvation. ”For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” – Romans 3:23 None of us are perfect. We’ve all done things that fall short of God’s standard. Sin separates us from a holy God.
2. Sin has a cost. ”For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” – Romans 6:23 The penalty for sin is spiritual death—eternal separation from God. But God offers us a gift: eternal life through Jesus.
3. God made a way. ”But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8 Jesus didn’t wait for us to clean ourselves up. While we were still in our sin, He died in our place, taking the punishment we deserved.
4. Salvation is available to all. ”That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” – Romans 10:9 It’s not about religion, good deeds, or church attendance. It’s about faith in Jesus—believing He is Lord and trusting that His death and resurrection make you right with God.
5. You can call on Him today. ”For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” – Romans 10:13 God promises to save anyone who calls out to Him in sincere faith. That includes you.
Would you like to begin that relationship with Christ?
Pray something like this from your heart: “Lord Jesus, I know that I’m a sinner. I believe You died for my sins and rose again. I turn from my sin and place my trust in You as my Savior and Lord. Come into my life and make me new. Amen.”
