5. Since we know from Scripture that Jesus has always been the Son of God and thus equal with God (Philippians 2:5, 6), what is meant by the words, “I ‘will’ be to him a Father, and he ‘shall’ be to me a Son?”

It is important to understand the meaning of the terms for the Son of God studied in question #6, for many cults use these terms to try to prove the false claim, that Jesus was a created being rather than God himself. Using Scripture to study Scripture, we learn that all of the above names for the Son indicate the positon that the Son holds by the Father’s will. What is the Father’s will concerning the Son? 10. Who were the only human witnesses to the worship that the angels gave to the firtbegotten when he came into the world?
11. How does the worship of the Son by the angels, when he became flesh and dwelt among us, show his superiority over the angels? Revelation 22:8, 9
12. There are some today, as there were some people at the time when this book was written shortly after Christ founded his church, who worship angels. Thus they and we are reminded again in verse 7 of the position of the angels in God’s economy. Who do the angels belong to and who are they accountable to?
13. How are the angels described in verse 7? Find and record Scripture that further explains these attributes of the angels.
14. What word in verse 8 is used to tell us that there is a great contrast between the Son and the angels?
15. Use verses 6, 7 and 8 to contrast the position of the angels with the position of the Son.

18. We know from Revelation 19:16 that the Son-Jesus Christ is called the KING OF KINGS and LORD OF LORDS. Use verse 8 and also Isaiah 9: 7; Isaiah 65:23-25; Zechariah 14:16, 17; Revelation 20:1-3 to give a brief description of the kingdom of the Son when he will rule upon the earth.
19. Verse 8 speaks of characteristics of the Son’s kingdom, which apply to the time when Christ will rule on earth, fulfilling the promise that God made to King David. But what phrase that describes the throne tells us that this is not just about the reign of Christ on the earth which is to last for 1000 years?
20. Give reference in the Scripture where we learn about that final reign of Christ.

22. Judging from the attributes of the Son that the Father declares as pleasing him, what can we conclude that the Father wants to be the attributes in the lives of his adopted children, that is those who believe on his name?
