EXODUS –LESSON 43

LEARN: II Corinthians 9:6, 7

But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

Read: Exodus 25:1-22

The Lord had revealed his glory to the nation of Israel upon the mountain. He had given them a covenant, and they had ratified (agreed to) it. Again the LORD revealed his glory, this time to the elders of Israel as they saw his likeness, and yet they were not killed but instead they did eat in his presence. At this time Moses was called by God to meet together with him so that as God could reveal to Moses his plan for the tabernacle.

Fifty chapters in the Bible report instructions concerning the tabernacle: 13 in exodus, 18 in Leviticus, 13 in Numbers, 2 in Deuteronomy, and 4 in Hebrews. It served as the place where god met with his people (cf25:8; 29:45), and it prefigured the perfect approach to God through the blood of Jesus Christ, who “tabernacle” among men (cf. John1:14; Hebrews 10:19-20).   –The Ryrie study Bible comment on Exodus 25:1
