Adult Bible Study: Exodus Lesson 37a

EXODUS –LESSON 37a

LEARN: Psalm 19:7-11, if you can, if not leave off verse 11.

The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul:
the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.
The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart:
the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.
The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever:
the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold:
sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned:
and in keeping of them there is great reward.

It is amazing that though we would never consider doing or condoning any of the sins against our neighbor that are listed in the 10 commandments, it is so easy to slip at number 10, the sin of coveting. That little saying, “The grass is always greener on the other side,” is a thought that so easily besets us. How are we to protect ourselves from falling into the trap of coveting what is our neighbor’s? What practical means has God given us to defeat covetousness in our lives? Use the following scripture to explain how each action works practically to protect against covetous thoughts:  Psalm 10:3-5
