Learn: Hebrews 6:18-20
18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: 19 Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil; 20 Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

- Verses 1-8 are a sad and sobering warning to the Hebrews of the result of rejection of Christ. But verse 9 is full of hope. How are these Hebrew Christians addressed?
- Since the term in verse 9 is never used of unbelievers or infidels, what does it tell us about these people?
- How does verse 9a contrast these Hebrews to those spoken of in verses 6-8?
- What is the hope of the author concerning the Hebrews based upon? v9b NOTE: We can see from this that the possibility of rejection by God does not apply to genuine believers. - What wonderful promise is given in verse 10a?
- Seeing the disheartening injustice in this world, what important and comforting attribute of God is given to us in verse 10 which fills a believer with hope?
- Find a record other Scriptures that speak of this attribute of God.

NOTE: The word “labor” refers to a Greek word (kopou) that means to labor to the point of exhaustion.

- An anchor must be unbending, not able to be twisted or broken in order to keep a ship from drifting in strong winds and raging seas. The word “sure” used here is the Greek work “asphale” meaning just that. What is our hope anchored (planted into) that is sure and steadfast? v 19c, Leviticus 16:2
